Look what Allen House will be replaced by! And it seems like they're being pretty reasonable with the residents, too. This could be a great addition to the neighborhood.
In some ways, it reminds me of Atlantic Station in ATL.

This is the wave of the future, and it can be a very positive thing given the right conditions. I believe that people can have a better life in a dense urban area than in suburbs, but only if they can afford to live there, and can feel reasonably secure in their homes.
The problems I foresee in Houston are lax building codes that may cause the posh dwellings of today to become the slums of tomorrow. There is also no system of rent control, so that the new gentry will continue to push less wealthy urban dwellers outward. We need to keep the current residents of Allen House in our prayers as they loose their homes.
